Principal's Message
C.S.I School of Nursing steps into it’s 70th year providing quality education and training programs, amidst great difficulties enduring success in all fronts. Started in 1913, by the American Missionaries, this prestigious institution served the society in a small way by providing education in lower grade nursing and midwifery courses in Tamil for women and children at The Christian Mission Hospital, Madurai. In 1934, it launched its first higher grade nursing for men.
However, it was in 1950, where higher grade general nursing and midwifery courses were commenced. Till date nearly 70 batches of our nestlings have hatched and have spread their wings across India and all over the world. It is not only the clinical experience, that the students get exposed to, but they also get trained in various community’s services be directly involving in treating minor elements, free medical checkup, mass awareness programme, school health programme, screening program for communicable and non-communicable diseases and giving health education to the rural and urban people.
To keep up with the latest treatments and advancements in medical sciences, the students were sent to various seminars and conferences. In-service education programmes, continuing nursing programmes and Staff Development programme were also conducted by various health teams to upgrade the knowledge of our staffs.
Apart form the knowledge inducing education that is provided here, we also encourage students to participate in various religious, sports and talent activities. Needless to say that our college, located in the prime of Madurai has been bestowed with the Prestigious Awards for Nursing Education, not once, not twice, but seven times.
