C.S.I School of Nursing

The School of Nursing was started in 1913 with lower grade Nursing and Midwifery Courses in Tamil in the Hospital for women and children. In 1934 Higher grade Nursing for men started. Higher grade General Nursing and Midwifery course was begun in 1951.

Many men and women of nursing background have toiled to nurture this institution to its present status and memorable among them are sisters – Fint, Betty Taylor, Wilson, Raynert, Attwood, Margery Thomas, E.B. Lang, D.S. Hoath and Mrs. Glory Malliga.

  1. 1913 - Establishment C.S.I School of Nursing started by American Missionaries at Christian Mission Hospital, offering lower-grade Nursing & Midwifery courses.
  2. 1934 - Higher Grade Nursing for Men The first higher-grade nursing course for men was introduced, instantly propelling and significantly expanding the institution’s reach.
  3. 1951 - General Nursing & Midwifery Higher-grade General Nursing & Midwifery courses were introduced, shaping future nursing professionals.
  4. 2025 - Legacy of 70+ Years C.S.I School of Nursing continues to produce skilled nurses, serving communities across India and globally.
